Historique :	Il ne s'agit apparemment pas, à proprement parler, d'un diorama : aucun dispositif d'éclairage par l'arrière ne semble avoir été prévu. Nous avons plutôt ici une vue panoramique très ample de Cauterets dans son cadre montagnard, prise depuis le secteur du Mamelon vert, à l'entrée nord de la station, où l'on peut distinguer des éléments caractéristiques de l'urbanisme et des établissements thermaux de la ville, comme la toute nouvelle gare, les halles ou l'arrière de l'Hôtel d'Angleterre. Le cadrage et l'animation du premier plan par un personnage, ici une jeune bergère bigourdane coiffée du capulet rouge, motif récurrent des peintures de Capdevielle, allongée sur l'herbe, se retrouve dans d'autres paysages de Capdevielle, notamment une vue des bains de Saint-Sauveur, récemment acquise par la commune de Luz-Saint-Sauveur et une vue de la vallée de Lourdes, actuellement dans le commerce d'art. Le traitement simplifié des montagnes à l'arrière-plan rappelle celui d'autres paysages (plateau de Cayan).
